Who helped shape the war?
During the war, many people had a huge influence o it and how it played out. Winston Churchill was the first Lord of the Admiralty who believed he had the solution for breaking into a second front line. He led the British naval fleet during the war and was eventually the Prime Minister of Britain. Another political leader was Kaiser Wilhelm 2. He was the last German Emperor who led Germany on a self-assertive foreign policy because he wanted Germany to become a major European power, but in the end he has little influence over the war. Woodrow Wilson had influence because he tried his hardest to keep America out of the global conflict and he did succeed for a while. He created a league of nations to ensure world peace then later became the president of the United States.
One major issue of the war was getting men to volunteer for the war, but a man named Lord Kitchener played a crucial role in raising a large volunteer army in Britain. A soldier who was a celebrated war poet named Wilfred Owen vividly describes the horror of trench warfare and it really gave people good evidence about the surroundings of the war. The assassination of Ferdinand was the unofficial cause of the world war, so the man behind really influenced the war in a major way. The assassin, Gavrilo Princep was a Bosnian-Serb who was sentenced to life and later died in 1918 of malnutrition.
