Where was the fighting?
There were multiple front lines where the battles were fought during the Great War. The western front is the location where the first land battle of the war was fought. The battle of Leige occurred when the German second army crossed the line going into neutral Belgium to attack France from the north. To the east thee first battle on the front line was by the German Eight Army at Stalluponen on August 17, 1914. One of the most successful battles of the was was fought on the Italian front line. The Battle of Caporetto was one of the more powerful successful battles of the war because this marked the Germans assisting the Austro-Hungarian allies for the first time. The campaigns in Africa were dominated by supplies or lack of water. Most of the battles where fought in the desserts of Namibia. The South African general, Sir Henry Lukin, led his army, known as A Force, to occupying a water hole which soon started the Battle of Sandfontein. There wasn't just fighting on land, but also in the water. The greatest naval battle fought was the Battle of Jutland in 1916. It was the German empire against the United Kingdom, it involved about 250 ships and 100,000 men. There were many war lines within WW1 and each had their own significance.
